Developing Kids Science - How Sound Over Phone

Projects for Kids Science Classes
How to develop a lesson plan on how phones work...

When developing a lesson plan on kids' science - how sound over phone is transmitted, you will want to break down the lesson plan into five parts. Each part will focus on different pieces of information that students will need to understand how sound is transmitted over the telephone. Remember to include goals and objectives and to identify how you will evaluate your student's understanding of the material presented in your lesson plan.

The first section of your lesson plan on kids' science - how sound over phone is transmitted will be your goals and objectives. This section needs to identify the key skills that your students will acquire by completing this lesson plan. For example, you may want your students to be able to define the various components of sound and to explain how sound is transmitted in general and over the phone.

The second section of your lesson plan on kids' science - how sound over phone is transmitted will be your introductory activities. These activities will provide background information on sound waves and the invention of the telephone. You can also present information about electricity and data transfers.

The next segment in your lesson plan will be a guided study activity. This activity will demonstrate the concepts you just introduced to your students. For example, you can show them a video on how sound is transmitted over the telephone and you can also have them complete a science experiment that demonstrates how vibrations can be transmitted from one device to another, such as in the tin can and string telephone experiment.

After your guided study activity you will give your students the chance to complete an independent study activity. This activity can be a simple worksheet or it can be complex science fair projects. The purpose of the independent study portion of the lesson plan is to produce something that you can grade.

Follow up activities will complete your lesson plan. These activities can include follow-up discussions, reviews or quizzes. If you need help coming up with follow-up activities, then you can refer to the information found in the Teacher's Guide to Science Fair Projects.
